Ludhiana : A 25 years old young boy, who is said to be mentally unstable, jumped into a burning funeral pyre at a cremation ground in Salem Tabri area.
The man, identified as Rohit Kumar of Bhattian, suffered severe burn injuries in the incident and his condition is stated to be critical.
According to the police, Rohit along with his father was crossing the cremation ground located near Gagandeep Colony in Salem Tabri area. Suddenly, Rohit rushed inside the crematorium and laid on to the burning pyre.
However, the onlookers rescued him but till then Rohit had suffered severe burn injuries and he was rushed to Civil Hospital.
ASI Ajitpal Singh, in-charge Eldeco police post said that the victim suffered 70 percent burn injuries and his condition is stated to be critical.
He added that the police recorded the statement of the victim’s father who stated that his son is mentally unstable and suddenly rushed inside the cremation ground and before anyone could understand or stop him, he jumped into the burning funeral pyre.
