Phagwara: Firing incident has been reported between two group’s clash at Lovely Professional University Law Gate. Satyam, who was injured in the incident, told that he was standing outside the street in Green Valley area after getting free from his friend’s birthday party. During this time, some youths came riding on 3 bikes and started a fight.
After this a young man named Mani opened fire. The youth injured in the incident has been admitted to Phagwara Civil Hospital. At the same time, Adarsh Tripathi from the other party said- Satyam along with his associates attacked us. The reason behind the incident is said to be old rivalry.
Tripathi said-When I went to rescue my friend, he beat me up. Satyam’s associates attacked us several times with belts and bracelets. We had no old enmity. My friend had a dispute with Satyam earlier.
When I reached there at night to pick up my friend, Satyam and his associates were beating my friend. When I moved forward to free him, the accused attacked me. Satyam’s associates also attacked me at the hospital gate.
According to the information, the incident happened intervening night of Friday and Saturday at around 2.30 am. Satyam was shot on his arm, which went through. At the same time, the second bullet touched Satyam’s stomach and went out. In view of the serious condition of the youth, he was referred to Jalandhar from the government hospital in Phagwara.
Mani has criminal record and out on bail
Satyam has alleged that Mani had come out of jail on bail only a few days ago. Many cases have already been registered against him. He was serving his sentence in Kapurthala jail. At the same time, the other side said that all the allegations against him are false. On the contrary he was attacked. The police will take further action after investigating the matter soon.
SP Phagwara Rupinder Kaur said that about 7 to 8 people have been detained in the case. Police have also recovered bullet shell from incident place Law Gate Lovely Professional University. Police have registered a case of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act.
