Jalandhar: In a shocking turn of events, a gunfire incident took place early this morning outside a gym in the Maqsudan area of Jalandhar. According to local authorities, a dispute between two parties over an old rivalry escalated when one group fired shots. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries.

The victim, identified as the local Pradhan, was reportedly the target of the attack. Akansh, a witness, stated that the Pradhan has been actively working to combat drug abuse in the area, which may have led to the threats. According to Akansh, these threats are linked to Pradhan’s efforts to have an SC Act case canceled.|

The Pradhan, while recounting the events, told police that he was at the gym as usual when two masked men approached him. One of the attackers fired a shot at him from behind, but the gun jammed. He quickly pulled out his licensed weapon, prompting the attackers to flee. The assailants continued to fire as they ran from the scene.

ASI Sham Lal, the investigating officer from Police Station 1, confirmed that the investigation is underway. He mentioned that the CCTV footage from the gym is being reviewed to gather more evidence. As of now, it has been confirmed that two individuals were involved in the attack.

The Pradhan also mentioned that he had been receiving threatening calls prior to the incident. He expressed concern about his safety, stating that if anything were to happen to him, he would hold the police responsible. He also requested additional security, but the investigating officer reportedly told him he could arrange for private security at his own expense. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
