West Bengal : Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh, accused of sexual harassment of women and land grabbing in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, was arrested on Thursday morning. Police gave this information.
Shahjahan Sheikh was absconding after the mob attack on Enforcement Directorate officials and the police was searching for him for more than 50 days. Police said Sheikh was arrested from a house in Meenakha in North 24 Parganas district.
After arrest he was taken to Basirhat court. A police officer said that he is currently in custody and will appear in the court during the day. The people of Sandeshkhali were protesting for a long time demanding Sheikh’s arrest.
