Crocodile enters residential area in Alwar, villagers rescue it themselves; video goes viral

Alwar: A crocodile entered a populated area in the Sariska region of Alwar, causing a stir. Instead of informing the forest department, villagers attempted to capture it themselves. During the operation, the crocodile was beaten with sticks and tied with a plastic rope.

The incident reportedly occurred on February 17th at a culvert near Bharthari intersection on the Alwar-Jaipur road. The video surfaced on Friday.

Beaten with sticks, tied with a rope

According to eyewitnesses, villagers gathered at the scene after the crocodile was spotted around 12 noon. Some began taking photos and videos of it.

The villagers then surrounded the crocodile and beat it with sticks, injuring it. Using sticks, its mouth was restrained and tied with a plastic rope.

Put in a sack and released in the forest

After subduing the crocodile, it was placed in a sack and taken to the forest and released there. Neither the police nor the forest department was informed of the entire incident.

Forest Department to investigate

Madhogarh Sarpanch representative Pemaram said that some people suffered minor injuries during the rescue, but the crocodile was safely released into the forest. He appealed to the forest department to monitor wild animals so they do not enter populated areas.

Sariska DFO Abhimanyu Saharan said that after the video surfaced, the matter is being investigated and necessary action will be taken.
