Fake IAS-IPS Officer Held for Crores-Worth Government Job Scam in Jalandhar

Jalandhar: Jalandhar Police have busted a major racket that defrauded people of crores of rupees in the name of providing government jobs. Police have arrested a woman named Pooja Thakur from Jalandhar Heights. She is accused of defrauding more than 200 unemployed young people by promising them government jobs without exams or interviews.

Fake appointment letters and seals recovered

Acting on a tip-off, police raided Jalandhar Heights. During the operation, approximately 200 fake government appointment letters, fake seals of various departments, and forged signatures of senior officials were recovered. Police also recovered a fake identity card from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Used to intimidate by claiming to be an IAS or IPS officer

Investigation revealed that Pooja Thakur used to pose as an IAS and IPS officer to impress people. She claimed that she would soon be posted to Delhi. Furthermore, she would deceive people by claiming that she had direct access to high-ranking officials and could secure positions for positions such as doctors, police inspectors, SIs, and ASIs.

Secret revealed by female doctor’s complaint

This fraud was exposed when a female doctor filed a complaint. She was allegedly extorted 2 lakh rupees in the name of securing a government job. Later, an investigation revealed her appointment letter to be fake. Following the complaint, police took action and arrested the accused.

Police conducting a thorough investigation

SHO Sanjeev Suri of Sadar Police Station stated that a case has been registered against the accused. Police are investigating who else is involved in this entire network. There is a possibility of more big revelations during the investigation.
