Six CRPF Jawans Injured in Road Accident Near Sonamarg Tunnel in J&K

Srinagar: At least six Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were injured on Friday after their vehicle met with an accident near the tunnel area in Sonamarg, Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Officials said the vehicle carrying the personnel went out of the driver’s control and skidded off the road near the tunnel, resulting in injuries to six jawans.

Injured Shifted for Treatment

The injured personnel were given first aid at the spot before being shifted to a nearby CRPF camp in the Gund area for further medical care. Their condition is stated to be stable.

Security Deployment in Amarnath Yatra Route

The incident comes amid heightened security arrangements for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra 2026, with CRPF and police personnel deployed across key routes, including the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Baltal axis.

The Sonamarg route is a crucial transit corridor for pilgrims heading towards the Baltal base camp in North Kashmir.

Yatra Arrangements in Place

Authorities have established multiple transit camps, medical facilities, and security checkpoints along both major pilgrimage routes. Community kitchens (langars) and emergency support systems have also been set up for the convenience of pilgrims.

Officials continue to monitor movement along the route as part of the overall security plan for the annual pilgrimage.
