CSK Captain Gaikwad Fined ₹12 Lakh for Slow Over-Rate

Mumbai: Ruturaj Gaikwad, captain of the Chennai Super Kings, has been fined ₹12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during the Indian Premier League 2026 match against the Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

First offence under the IPL Code

This was CSK’s first over-rate violation this season, leading to a fine of ₹12 lakh on Gaikwad under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

Action against other captains also

Gaikwad became the third captain to be found guilty of a slow over-rate this season.
Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings) made this mistake in two consecutive matches, while Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans) was also found guilty in the match against Delhi Capitals.

Sanju Samson played a brilliant unbeaten innings of 115 runs (56 balls), including 15 fours and 4 sixes, to help CSK post a mammoth total of 212/2.
