David Warner charged with drink driving in Sydney, cricketer in legal trouble

Sydney: Former Australian opener David Warner was arrested on Sunday for drink driving. Warner’s blood alcohol reading was 0.104 during a routine roadside breath test in Maroubra. He has been issued a court attendance notice and will appear in Downing Centre Local Court on May 7, 2026.

Incident Details

Warner stopped and parked his car just before the testing site. Police approached his vehicle and conducted a breathalyzer, which revealed his alcohol level to be above the legal limit. He was subsequently taken to Maroubra Police Station.

Cricketing Commitments

Despite retiring from international cricket in 2024, Warner remains active in franchise cricket. He is currently captaining the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 and returned to Australia for a short period between matches.

Recent Performance

Warner has been consistently performing well in domestic T20 competitions, including the Big Bash League (BBL). He recently scored 433 runs in eight matches for the Sydney Thunder, becoming the tournament’s leading run-scorer.
