New Delhi: BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Monday strongly criticised objectionable slogans allegedly raised against Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a Congress rally in Delhi, calling them “deeply hurtful” and unacceptable in a democratic society.
Kangana Ranaut Slams ‘Unacceptable’ Language
Reacting to videos circulating on social media, Ranaut said that wishing death upon any individual, especially the Prime Minister, crosses all limits of political dissent.
“Political differences should not turn into personal attacks. Such slogans hurt not just the Prime Minister but the entire nation,” she told reporters outside Parliament.
Congress Clarifies, BJP Demands Apology
The controversy followed Congress’s “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” rally at Ramlila Maidan, where some workers were allegedly heard raising provocative slogans. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra denied that any such remarks were made from the stage and said it was unclear who raised the slogans.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju condemned the incident and urged the Congress leadership to apologise publicly in Parliament.
Parliament Disrupted Over Row
The issue led to an uproar in the Lok Sabha, with treasury benches raising the matter, resulting in the House being adjourned. BJP leaders said such language damages democratic values and public discourse.
