New Delhi: A total of 97 flights were cancelled and more than 200 others delayed on Sunday due to poor visibility caused by dense fog at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Arrivals and Departures Affected

According to an official, 48 incoming flights and 49 outgoing flights were cancelled amid the adverse weather conditions. Both domestic and international services were impacted as visibility levels dropped significantly during the day.

Delays Exceed 200 Flights

Data from flight tracking website Flightradar24 showed that over 200 flights were delayed, with the average departure delay recorded at around 23 minutes at the airport.

Airport Operator Says Operations Stable

In a post on X around noon, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) stated that airport operations were running smoothly. DIAL operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport, the country’s busiest aviation hub, which typically handles nearly 1,300 flights each day.

Flight operations at Delhi and several other airports have been affected for several consecutive days due to persistent dense fog, leading to ongoing disruptions for air travellers.
