Delhi airport, several schools receive bomb threat, security tightened

New Delhi: A bomb threat at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi on Sunday prompted heightened security and search operations, officials said.

Along with the airport, a couple of schools and other institutions in the national capital also received similar threats via email.

Schools in Delhi Targeted

According to officials, the schools that received the threat emails included CRPF Public School in Dwarka and a Sarvodaya Vidyalaya near Qutub Minar. Both were immediately evacuated and searched by police teams, fire personnel, and bomb disposal squads.

“However, nothing suspicious was found,” an official from the Delhi Fire Services told PTI, confirming the threats were a hoax.

Security Drill at IGI Airport

The bomb threat at IGI Airport triggered a large-scale security response, with teams deployed to conduct thorough checks across the premises. Officials confirmed that no suspicious items were recovered.

Similar Hoax Threat at Jammu Airport

Earlier in the day, Jammu Airport also received a bomb threat email. Following protocol, the CISF and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a full anti-sabotage drill.

“An email was received by a private airliner this morning, and accordingly, a security drill in such situations was followed to rule out the presence of any explosive substance. The email was a hoax,” an official of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) told PTI, adding that a police complaint has been registered.

Growing Concern Over Hoax Threats

The spate of false threats has raised concerns for security agencies, as resources continue to be diverted to counter hoax emails. Authorities are tracing the origin of these messages to prevent recurrence.
