New Delhi: Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta received a bomb threat via email on Tuesday, prompting police to initiate security checks as per established protocols.
Police said all necessary checks are being carried out following the threat, while further details about the email and the ongoing security operation are awaited.
Vijender Gupta Receives Bomb Threat Email
The latest threat was sent to Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, with police immediately following security protocols to check the premises and assess the threat.
Authorities have not yet disclosed details about the contents of the email or identified its sender.
The incident comes amid heightened security concerns surrounding the Delhi Assembly, which has received similar threat emails in the past.
Gupta Given Z-Category Security After Earlier Threats
Earlier in April, Gupta was granted Z-category security following a series of bomb threat emails received by the Delhi Assembly.
Under the enhanced security arrangement, Gupta was provided round-the-clock protection by a specialised security team along with a dedicated escort vehicle.
According to the Assembly Secretariat, around six to seven threatening emails had been received by the Secretariat and the Speaker’s office.
The latest threat has once again put security agencies on alert, with checks being conducted as a precautionary measure.
Investigation Into Threat Email Underway
Police and security agencies are expected to examine the latest email to establish its origin and assess the credibility of the threat.
Similar bomb-threat emails have previously triggered security searches at the Delhi Assembly. In March, multiple threats led to bomb disposal and dog squads conducting extensive checks of the Assembly premises.
Authorities are yet to provide further information on the latest threat.
