Delhi Police Arrest Auto Thief, Recover Stolen Bike and Five Mobile Phones

New Delhi: The Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of the South District Police has arrested a 25-year-old habitual vehicle thief and mobile snatcher, recovering a stolen Honda motorcycle and five stolen mobile phones linked to multiple theft cases across Delhi.

The accused, identified as Kasim Khan, a resident of Loni in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district, was arrested following a targeted operation based on specific intelligence. The recovery has helped Delhi Police solve six theft cases registered at different police stations in the city.

Arrest made after intelligence-based operation

According to police, the AATS received information on July 8 that the accused would be travelling through South Delhi on a stolen motorcycle. Acting on the tip-off, a police team laid a trap and intercepted the suspect.

During verification, the Honda motorcycle was found to be stolen. A search of the accused also led to the recovery of five stolen mobile phones concealed in his possession.

Used stolen bikes to commit mobile thefts

During interrogation, Kasim Khan allegedly confessed to stealing unattended motorcycles from public places and using them to carry out mobile phone thefts in crowded markets and busy localities across Delhi.

Police said he frequently changed his areas of operation to evade detection and later sold the stolen mobile phones to local receivers for quick financial gains.

Six theft cases solved

The recovered motorcycle and mobile phones have been linked to theft cases registered at R.K. Puram, Mehrauli, Malviya Nagar, Tigri, Fatehpur Beri and Maidan Garhi police stations.

Police have seized all recovered items as part of the investigation and are now working to identify the receivers who allegedly purchased the stolen phones. Efforts are also underway to trace additional victims and determine the accused’s involvement in other pending cases.

Habitual offender with criminal history

Police said Kasim Khan has a long criminal record and has previously been involved in 10 criminal cases related to theft, possession of stolen property, the Arms Act and the Gangsters Act.

His previous cases have been registered at Loni Kotwali, Karawal Nagar, Sahibabad, Mandawali and Tila Mod police stations.

Officials said further investigation is in progress to recover more stolen property and dismantle the network involved in disposing of stolen mobile phones and vehicles.
