Autopsy Shows Suffocation Behind Delhi Biker Death

A preliminary post-mortem report in the Delhi biker death case has revealed that the 25-year-old man, identified as Kamal, died of traumatic asphyxia and suffocation after falling into a deep, uncovered pit with his bike in Janakpuri, West Delhi. His mouth and nose were found filled with soil, leading to respiratory obstruction that caused his death.

    How the Incident Happened

The tragedy occurred on a road where construction work by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had left a 15-foot-deep excavation pit uncovered and unmarked, with no warning signs, barricades, reflectors or lighting in place. Kamal’s motorcycle slipped into this pit late at night, and he became trapped.

    Family’s Ordeal & Rescue Delay

After Kamal went missing on the night of the incident, his family searched through multiple police stations overnight before learning about the accident only the next morning. His body, along with the bike, was found inside the pit by authorities.

     Actions & Legal Developments

    • Sub-contractor Rajesh Prajapati has been arrested in connection with the case over alleged negligence.

    • A Delhi court has issued non-bailable warrants against two contractors linked to the site’s unsafe condition, and FIRs have been filed under culpable homicide provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

    • Investigations are ongoing to determine full liability of Delhi Jal Board officials and contractors.

     Safety Failures Under Scrutiny

The case has sparked major criticism of civic safety protocols, with questions raised about how a busy urban road construction site was left without basic public safety measures, directly leading to a fatality.
