Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attacked at Public Meet, accused nabbed

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked during a public hearing at the CM residence on Wednesday morning. According to media reports, she was slapped by the person. However, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has denied the slapping incident.

Confirming the attack, the Delhi CM Office said in a statement- A man attacked Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during the public hearing today. The accused has been caught by the Delhi Police and is being questioned.

Delhi CMO said, “A person attacked CM Rekha Gupta during Jan Sunvai today. The accused has been nabbed by the Delhi Police and is being questioned.”

Accused 35-year-old: Delhi BJP

Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said- A 35-year-old man came to the public hearing. He gave some documents to the CM. After this, there was some altercation. He tried to attack. This could be the work of a party that has become desperate.

How Congress reacted to incident

On the attack on CM Rekha Gupta, Delhi Congress chief Devendra Yadav said- The incident is unfortunate. Rekha Gupta is the Chief Minister of entire Delhi. No amount of condemnation of such incidents is enough. This incident has exposed the security system of women. If the Chief Minister of Delhi is not safe then how can a common man or woman be safe?

Hope for Strict action: Atishi

Delhi LoP and AAP leader Atishi tweets, “The attack on Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is highly condemnable. In a democracy, there is a place for disagreement and protest, but there is no place for violence. Hoping that the Delhi Police will take the strictest action against the culprits. It is hoped that the Chief Minister is completely safe.”

Accused arrested by Delhi Police 

According to preliminary unverified information, the attacker shouted at Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, slapped her, and began abusing her.

Rajesh handed some papers to the chief minister and referred to a court case before assaulting her, as per some unverified reports. He also pulled her hair and slapped her.

Currently, the Chief Minister is being monitored by a doctor, after which it will be clear how many injuries she has suffered, said sources.

Following the incident, security has been heightened at the Chief Minister’s residence.

Top officials of the Delhi Police are present at the spot, and an investigation is underway at the Civil Lines police station.

According to the police, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) was at the CM Rekha Gupta’s residence.
