Delhi CM Rekha Gupta lauds NDRF’s courage and service on Raising Day

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday praised the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on its Raising Day, highlighting the courage, dedication and selfless service of its personnel during times of crisis. Extending her greetings, she acknowledged the vital role played by the force in safeguarding lives and property across the country.

“Heartfelt greetings to all the brave soldiers and their families on the Foundation Day of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF),” Gupta said in a post on X. She described the NDRF as an unwavering pillar of the nation’s trust during disasters and emergencies.

‘Unparalleled role in national service’

Emphasising the force’s motto, ‘Disaster Service Always Everywhere’, the Chief Minister said the NDRF’s dedication and preparedness in building a secure India were truly inspiring. She also paid tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives in the service of humanity, saying the entire nation takes pride in their indomitable courage and devotion to duty.

Earlier, the NDRF was also lauded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and leaders from across the political spectrum, who commended the discipline, bravery and commitment of its personnel.

About NDRF and its role

Observed annually, NDRF Raising Day marks the establishment of the force under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, as a specialised unit to respond to natural and man-made disasters. Since its inception, the NDRF has emerged as India’s premier disaster response agency, earning both national and international recognition for its efficiency and humane approach.

Comprising highly trained personnel drawn mainly from the Central Armed Police Forces, the NDRF handles a wide range of emergencies, including floods, cyclones, earthquakes, landslides, industrial accidents and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) disasters. Apart from rescue and relief operations, the force also focuses on capacity building, community awareness and disaster preparedness through mock drills and training programmes.
