Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Flags Tricolour, Unveils Report Card

On January 25, 2026, as part of Republic Day 2026 celebrations, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unfurled the national flag at Chhatra Sal Stadium, marking her first Republic Day salute since taking office. The ceremony included a parade inspection, cultural performances, and patriotic fervour as thousands gathered to witness the event.

11‑Month Government Report Card

In her address to the public, Gupta released her 11‑month performance report card, outlining key achievements and initiatives undertaken since her government assumed office in early 2025. She reviewed progress across sectors such as healthcare, infrastructure development, social welfare, and urban mobility.

Healthcare was a major focus with the Ayushman Bharat scheme rolled out in the capital on day one, resulting in over 6.5 lakh registrations and the operationalization of hundreds of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Government hospitals are being modernized, and thousands of new medical posts have been created to strengthen the health system.

Infrastructure and Mobility Enhancements

Gupta announced substantial enhancements to the capital’s infrastructure and transport networks. Delhi’s capital expenditure for 2025‑26 has nearly reached ₹30,000 crore, she said, with plans to phase in 11,000 electric buses over the next three years and to redevelop all Inter State Bus Terminals (ISBTs). The Delhi Metro’s budget was also boosted to improve services and expand coverage. []

She also highlighted investment in rural and slum development, with hundreds of crores earmarked for improved living standards and plans for modernized facilities such as biogas‑enabled gaushalas. Solar power installations on government buildings reflect her administration’s push for green energy adoption.

Social Welfare and Education Boosts

In social policy, the CM introduced initiatives like the Pink Bus Card scheme offering free bus travel to women and transgender residents and the formation of a Gig Worker Welfare Board for expanded security and benefits. Education sector commitments include allocating 21% of the budget to education and developing a major ₹1,300 crore educational hub in Narela.

Sports development was also emphasized, with the launch of Delhi’s first international‑standard Sports University in Mundaka and enhanced rewards for athletes, demonstrating a commitment to youth engagement and excellence.

Honoring the Constitution and National Pride

Paying tribute to martyrs and the Constitution’s framers, Gupta reiterated that India’s democratic foundation and Republic ethos are cornerstones of national progress. She reminded the gathering that the Constitution, shaped by visionaries like Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, has guided the nation for 77 years with principles of justice, equality and dignity.

Her address made clear that the Republic Day celebration and the report card she presented is both a symbolic and substantive milestone signaling Delhi’s trajectory of growth, reform and inclusive governance.
