New Delhi: Delhi Police have busted an alleged drug trafficking network and arrested three accused, including two foreign nationals found overstaying in India, while recovering a commercial quantity of Amphetamine, officials said on Tuesday.
The operation was carried out by a team from Patel Nagar Police Station as part of the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ following specific intelligence inputs about drug supply in the area.
Commercial Quantity of Amphetamine Recovered
According to police, a tip-off received on June 25 indicated that a foreign national was supplying narcotic substances in the Patel Nagar area.
Acting on the information, a special police team laid a trap near Shadipur Flyover and apprehended one suspect. During the search, officials allegedly recovered 54 grams of Amphetamine from his possession.
Subsequent interrogation and follow-up raids in Nihal Vihar and Nilothi led to the arrest of two more alleged associates, taking the total number of arrests to three.
Two Foreign Nationals Found Overstaying
The arrested accused have been identified as Prince (22), originally from Cape Town, South Africa; Efosa Mikel Atohan alias Leon (24), a native of Benin City, Nigeria; and Justin Chukuwa (36), a Delhi resident whose father is Nigerian and mother is Indian.
Police said Prince had arrived in India in 2023 on a medical/tourist visa that expired in March 2026, while Leon entered India in 2019 on a study visa that expired in 2023. Both allegedly continued residing in India after their visas had expired.
During questioning, the accused allegedly claimed they were engaged in the import and export of fabrics between India and Nigeria while also procuring and supplying Amphetamine across Delhi for financial gain.
Probe Expands to Drug Network
Police said the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has been informed about the visa violations, and verification of travel documents is underway.
Investigators are now working to identify the source of the narcotics, intended recipients, financial transactions, mobile phone records, digital evidence and possible interstate and international links to dismantle the entire trafficking network.
