Delhi heat rises as NCR nears early heatwave

Delhi-NCR is steadily slipping into intense summer heat as April progresses, with rising temperatures and dry winds making daytime conditions increasingly uncomfortable. The IMD has indicated that the coming days may bring a sharp rise in maximum temperatures, pushing the region closer to heatwave-like conditions. While mornings and evenings still offer slight relief, the afternoon sun has become harsh enough to make outdoor movement difficult for residents.

For today, the weather across Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and nearby regions is expected to remain completely clear with strong sunshine throughout the day. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 37 to 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may stay near 20 degrees Celsius. Dry conditions and intermittent strong surface winds are also expected, which may carry dust in some areas and add to discomfort.

Delhi Weather Today: Rising Temperatures and Heatwave Alert

According to weather experts, the heat is expected to intensify further between 14 and 15 April, when temperatures could approach the 40 degrees Celsius mark in parts of Delhi-NCR. Although a formal heatwave alert has not yet been issued, conditions are becoming increasingly similar to early heatwave patterns due to prolonged dry spells and continuous warming.

Night temperatures are also gradually rising, which means residents may no longer experience cooler nights. This steady increase in both day and night temperatures is a clear signal of strengthening summer conditions across North India.

IMD Forecast: More Heat, Dusty Winds and No Immediate Relief

The IMD has not issued any rainfall warning for the region, indicating that dry weather will continue for the foreseeable future. A weak western disturbance may bring minor cloud cover around 16 to 17 April, especially in some parts of NCR, but it is unlikely to bring any meaningful drop in temperature.

By 18 April, maximum temperatures are expected to remain in the range of 39 to 41 degrees Celsius, keeping heat stress high across the region. Authorities have advised residents to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and take necessary precautions while stepping outdoors.
