Delhi on high alert amid fears of terrorist attack

Delhi Police has issued a high alert in the capital due to the possibility of a terrorist attack. According to inputs from intelligence agencies, government buildings and political party offices in Lutyens’ Delhi could be targets. According to officials, a special alert has also been issued for the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters.

Vigilance increased after the disclosure of a module linked to Pakistan

This alert was issued after the Special Cell arrested nine accused linked to the network of Pakistan-linked gangster Shahzad Bhatti. According to police, the accused were recruiting youth through social media.

Additional Police Commissioner of the Special Cell, Pramod Singh Kushwaha, stated that some of the accused were tasked with firing at security personnel in North India and Delhi-NCR. Police also suspect their involvement in arms smuggling.

Suicide Attack and IED Threat Monitored

A senior official said that police are maintaining special vigilance against threats such as suicide attacks, car bombs, weapons, and IEDs. Security agencies are on high alert following the blast near the Red Fort last year.

Security has been tightened outside several sensitive areas and government offices in New Delhi.

Security at BJP Offices Increased Across the Country

A BJP official said that security at party headquarters has been increased since the swearing-in ceremony of the new government in West Bengal. Additional police forces have been deployed over the past few days.
