3 Delhi Metro Gates Shut Ahead of CJP Parliament March; Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat Reopen Later

New Delhi: Three Delhi Metro station gates were temporarily closed on Monday morning as a precautionary measure ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ march to Parliament, while thousands of supporters gathered at Jantar Mantar for the protest.

Entry and exit gates at Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat and Seva Teerth Metro stations were temporarily closed due to security arrangements related to the proposed CJP march.

The DMRC issued an advisory informing commuters about the temporary restrictions and said the measures were taken as a precautionary step.

The CJP had announced a march to Parliament as part of its protest, with a large number of supporters reaching Jantar Mantar.

Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat stations reopened

In a later update, the DMRC informed passengers that interchange facilities and station gates at Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat Metro stations had been reopened.

The restoration of services came after a brief halt, allowing normal commuter movement to resume at the stations.

CJP protest over NEET paper leak issue

The protest has been organised to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG paper leak controversy and other alleged irregularities related to examinations, including the Class 12 CBSE Board exams.

Activist Sonam Wangchuk has also extended support to the march. Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike, is currently admitted to Safdarjung Hospital after his health condition deteriorated.

His hospitalisation followed the Delhi High Court’s order allowing authorities to intervene if his health worsened during the fast.

Meanwhile, the Monsoon Session of Parliament began on Monday and will continue till August 13, with 19 sittings scheduled during the session.
