Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that train services will start much earlier than usual on Sunday, 22 February 2026, to help participants and spectators reach the New Delhi Marathon 2026 event on time. Trains will begin running from terminal stations at 3:30 AM on marathon day.
This early start is part of special operational arrangements aimed at facilitating smooth travel for runners and volunteers heading to various race starting points across the city.
Delhi Metro services on select lines will operate on a 30-minute frequency from 3:30 AM to 6:00 AM on 22 February. After 6 AM, trains will revert to the regular Sunday timetable.
The early services will be available on the following major lines to cater to participants:
Yellow Line: Samaypur Badli – Millennium City Centre Gurugram
Blue Line: Dwarka Sector 21 – Noida Electronic City / Vaishali
Violet Line: Kashmere Gate – Raja Nahar Singh
These routes were selected because they connect key parts of the city and major residential hubs to the marathon venue and nearby areas.
The New Delhi Marathon 2026 is a flagship annual race event that draws thousands of runners from across India and abroad. It features full marathon (42 km) runs along with other distance categories and is often recognised as a National Championship level marathon under the Athletics Federation of India.
For many participants, this marathon also serves as a chance to post qualifying times for continental events such as the Asian Games, depending on the race category and performance.
