Delhi Police Arrest Three ‘Gangland’ Operatives, Foil Extortion Plot in NCR

New Delhi: Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested three alleged members of the newly formed Mathura-based criminal outfit ‘Gangland’, including its suspected kingpin Kanha Singh Jadaul alias Kanha Thakur, and foiled an alleged extortion plot targeting businesses in the Delhi-NCR region.

The arrests were made by the Special Cell’s South-West Range during an operation in the Dwarka area. Police recovered three firearms, 11 live cartridges and a Scorpio vehicle from the accused.

Gang allegedly inspired by Rohit Godara outfit

According to police, the newly formed gang was headed by Kanha Thakur and was reportedly inspired by fugitive gangster Rohit Godara’s network. Investigators said the group was looking for potential targets in Delhi-NCR and allegedly planned to carry out firing attacks on offices or vehicles to create fear and extort money.

Police said intelligence inputs indicated that some gang members had entered Delhi to identify potential targets. The Special Cell subsequently launched surveillance and laid a trap in Dwarka.

On the intervening night of July 29 and 30, officers intercepted the three accused while they were allegedly travelling in a Scorpio and scouting for targets.

Three firearms, 11 cartridges recovered

During the operation, police recovered a .30-bore automatic pistol loaded with five live cartridges and two single-shot pistols, each carrying one live cartridge. A total of 11 live rounds were recovered.

An FIR was registered at the Special Cell police station under Section 25 of the Arms Act, and further investigation is underway.

Police said the arrests helped prevent planned extortion attempts and firing incidents in Delhi-NCR.

Accused have criminal backgrounds

Kanha Singh Jadaul, 26, is originally from Mathura and had shifted to Jaipur with his family around 15 years ago. Police said he became involved in criminal activities during his college years and later formed the Gangland outfit with an associate identified as Bhushan from Mathura.

Investigators said Kanha and his associates allegedly showcased criminal activities on social media and later became followers of Rohit Godara. Police claimed that Kanha subsequently inducted Vallabha Charya and Suraj into the group.

Police records indicate that Kanha and his associates were allegedly involved in a contract killing in Jaipur in 2023. He is also facing several cases, including those related to murder and violations of the Arms Act in Rajasthan.

Suraj, 24, a resident of Bharatpur, allegedly joined Kanha following disputes over ancestral property. Police said he is facing cases involving attempt to murder, rioting and Arms Act violations.

Vallabha Charya, 30, also from Bharatpur, had worked as a gym trainer before opening a gym in Jaipur in March 2026. Investigators said he came into contact with Kanha through his fitness business and later joined the gang, allegedly after suffering financial losses and seeking quick money through criminal activities.

Delhi Police said the arrests have prevented several serious crimes, including planned extortion attempts and firing incidents, as the accused were allegedly in the process of identifying vulnerable targets across the NCR.
