Delhi Police Arrest Two Linked to Lawrence Bishnoi, Rashid Cablewala Gangs After Encounter

New Delhi: Two criminals were injured and arrested following an encounter with Delhi Police in the Usmanpur area of northeast Delhi, with approximately 26 rounds fired from both sides during the exchange of fire.

The encounter took place in Usmanpur Yamuna Khadar, where the North East Delhi District Special Staff team had laid a trap after receiving information about the movement of the two accused.

When police spotted the suspects and signalled them to stop, they allegedly attempted to flee and opened fire at the police personnel. The police retaliated, following which both accused sustained bullet injuries to their legs. They were subsequently overpowered, taken into custody and admitted to a hospital for treatment.

The two accused have been identified as Mohammad Kaif and Mohammad Jaseem, according to police. The two are allegedly associated with the Rashid Cablewala gang, which operates in Northeast Delhi. Police suspect that Rashid Cablewala is linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

During the exchange of fire, bullets allegedly fired by the accused struck the bulletproof jackets of two police personnel. Both officers escaped unhurt.

Police said the two accused were allegedly involved in an extortion-related firing incident in Bhajanpura on October 2. According to the police, they had demanded extortion money from a businessman in the area and had also fired shots in the air. A case was registered in connection with the incident.

The latest encounter followed police efforts to trace the accused after receiving information about their movement. The two are now being interrogated, while investigators are examining their criminal backgrounds and possible links with other gang members.

The police are also investigating the alleged connection between the Rashid Cablewala gang and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
