Delhi Police Deny Permission for CJP’s Parliament March, Enforce Prohibitory Orders

New Delhi: The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has suffered a setback after the Delhi Police denied permission for its proposed march to Parliament on July 20, citing prohibitory orders and heightened security arrangements ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Police Say No Permission Granted

New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sachin Sharma said the CJP neither applied for nor received permission to hold the march.

“No permission has been granted for the Cockroach Janata Party’s alleged march to Parliament on July 20,” Sharma said.

He added that Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) is currently in force, restricting protests to the designated site at Jantar Mantar and only with prior approval from the authorities.

Restrictions Ahead of Parliament Session

Under the prohibitory orders, gatherings of five or more people, protest marches and demonstrations are prohibited outside the notified protest venue.

With Parliament scheduled to convene on Monday, Delhi Police has deployed additional security personnel around Parliament House and other sensitive locations to maintain law and order and ensure the smooth functioning of the session.

Police have warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone violating the restrictions.

CJP Plans to Continue Protest

The development comes amid the CJP’s ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar, which began on June 20.

Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who had been on a prolonged hunger strike, was recently hospitalised. Following his hospitalisation, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke has taken over the hunger strike, intensifying the party’s agitation.

Despite the police refusal, the CJP has announced that it intends to proceed with its planned march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament.

Police Appeal for Public Cooperation

Security agencies remain on high alert as the situation develops. Authorities have advised protesters to remain within the designated protest zone and urged citizens to avoid sensitive areas around Parliament.

Delhi Police reiterated that any attempt to violate the prohibitory orders would invite legal action under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
