Delhi Police Recover 2,400 Lost, Stolen Mobile Phones Worth ₹2.5 Crore Under Operation Vishwas

New Delhi: Delhi Police has recovered 2,400 lost and stolen mobile phones worth more than ₹2.5 crore during the first six months of 2026 under Operation Vishwas, a citizen-focused initiative aimed at tracing missing devices and returning them to their rightful owners.

The operation, led by the Anti-Snatching Cell of the South-West District, uses technical surveillance, digital tracking, field verification, and coordinated investigations to recover lost and stolen mobile phones.

1,790 Phones Recovered in April-June

According to Delhi Police, 1,790 mobile phones were recovered between April 1 and June 30, while a total of 2,400 devices were traced and recovered between January 1 and June 30.

Police said the recovered phones have either been returned or are in the process of being handed back to their owners.

Nearly 1,900 Phones Returned to Owners

Following the recovery drive, police stations across the South-West District organised Mobile Phone Handover Programmes, during which nearly 1,900 recovered phones were returned to citizens.

Many recipients expressed gratitude to the police for helping them recover their valuable devices.

Anti-Snatching Cell Led the Operation

Official data shows that the Anti-Snatching Cell recovered 1,236 mobile phones, while local police station teams recovered the remaining 1,164 devices.

The total value of the recovered phones is estimated to exceed ₹2.5 crore.

Technology-Driven Policing

Delhi Police said Operation Vishwas reflects its commitment to citizen welfare and transparent policing by using advanced technology, digital tracking tools, and dedicated investigative efforts to improve the recovery rate of lost and stolen mobile phones.

Officials added that the operation will continue, with teams working to trace more missing devices and ensure they are returned to their rightful owners as quickly as possible.
