Rain Likely To Return To Delhi From Saturday; IMD Issues Alerts Across India

New Delhi: With the southwest monsoon having withdrawn from Delhi, weather conditions in the national capital are expected to change again, with rainfall activity likely to increase from Saturday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

On Friday, Delhi is likely to remain warm and partly cloudy, with the minimum temperature expected to be around 23 degrees Celsius and the maximum around 34 degrees Celsius. The IMD has not issued any weather warning for the national capital for Friday.

Relative humidity is expected to remain high at around 90 per cent in the morning and 60 per cent in the evening, which could make conditions feel hot and humid during the morning hours.

Rain Forecast In Delhi From Saturday

Weather conditions are expected to change from Saturday, with the IMD forecasting generally cloudy skies and light to moderate rain in Delhi. Some areas could also witness thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds.

Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh have no rain warning for Friday under the latest IMD regional forecast. However, nearby Uttar Pradesh remains active, particularly East Uttar Pradesh, where a very heavy rainfall warning has been issued.

Heavy Rain Alerts Across Several States

Several parts of India are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday, with the IMD warning of intense rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across multiple regions.

Very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, and Vidarbha.

Heavy rainfall has also been forecast over Assam and Meghalaya, Bihar, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Kerala, Telangana, Uttarakhand, West Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh.

East Uttar Pradesh is under a very heavy rain warning, with thunderstorms, lightning and squall activity also possible. West Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand have been issued heavy rain warnings for Friday.

Uttarakhand, Odisha And Chhattisgarh Under Watch

The weather situation in Uttarakhand could intensify over the next two days, with the IMD forecasting extremely heavy rainfall on September 26 and very heavy rainfall on September 27.

Odisha is also expected to witness significant rainfall on Friday, with a very heavy rain warning and the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning.

Chhattisgarh remains under a very heavy rainfall warning. The state had already recorded extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places on Thursday, and the IMD expects very heavy rainfall to continue on September 25 and 26.

The latest weather activity is linked to a deep depression over south Odisha and adjoining north coastal Andhra Pradesh. The system is moving north-northwestwards and gradually weakening, but is expected to continue influencing rainfall over parts of central and eastern India.
