Delhi Teen’s Father Apologises After SUV Kills Biker

A 23-year-old man, identified as Sahil Dhaneshra, was killed on February 3 in Delhi’s Dwarka South area when an SUV allegedly driven by a minor collided with his motorcycle near Lal Bahadur Shastri College. The impact also caused the SUV to hit a parked taxi, injuring the taxi driver.

     Father’s Public Apology

The father of the accused teenager said in media interviews that the crash was a grave mistake and expressed deep regret:

    • He said, “This is my son’s mistake, and I apologies for it.”

    • The family claims they are deeply grief-stricken and will fully cooperate with the police investigation and legal process.

He also tried to clarify that the SUV involved is part of the family’s commercial vehicle business and that past traffic challans on the car were from hired drivers, not his son.

     Underage Driving and Legal Action

Delhi Police confirmed the teenager was driving without a license. He was initially sent to an Observation Home by the Juvenile Justice Board. The Board later granted interim bail so he could sit for his Class 10 board exams.

An FIR has been filed against both the minor and his father under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act, which include rash driving and causing death by negligence.

Family of the Victim Speaks Out

Sahil’s mother, Inna Makan, has rejected the apology, saying no words can bring back her son. She alleged the teenager was making reels or videos on social media at the time of the crash and criticized the handling of the case.

She described Sahil as a hardworking young man who was set to pursue further opportunities.

    Ongoing Investigation

Police investigations continue, including examining CCTV footage, vehicle inspections, and witness testimonies. The case has sparked debate over underage driving, parental responsibility, and road safety enforcement in India.
