New Delhi: In a swift life-saving response, personnel of the Delhi Traffic Police rescued an advocate who suffered a suspected cardiac emergency and collapsed while riding his motorcycle at the busy ITO crossing on Monday. The victim was administered CPR and first aid before being rushed to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital within minutes.

The incident occurred at around 11:55 a.m., when Traffic Inspector Gopal of the Kamla Market Traffic Circle and his team were regulating traffic at the ITO intersection.

Traffic police administer CPR, rush advocate to hospital

According to the Delhi Traffic Police, advocate Namneet suddenly lost control of his motorcycle while travelling from Indraprastha towards the ITO intersection near Tilak Bridge and collapsed on the road.

Preliminary observations suggested that he experienced severe chest pain, possibly triggered or aggravated by the prevailing extreme heat.

Recognising the seriousness of the situation, Inspector Gopal and his team immediately removed the rider’s helmet, administered CPR and first aid, and decided not to wait for an ambulance due to heavy traffic congestion.

Instead, they shifted him in an official police vehicle and admitted him to LNJP Hospital within two minutes, ensuring he received treatment during the critical golden hour.

Doctors examining cause of medical emergency

The advocate is currently undergoing treatment at LNJP Hospital, where doctors are conducting further examinations to determine the exact cause of the medical emergency.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Central Range, praised the prompt action of the Kamla Market Traffic staff, saying their presence of mind ensured the victim received timely medical attention.

The incident highlights the Delhi Traffic Police’s role not only in managing traffic but also in responding to emergencies and assisting citizens during life-threatening situations.
