Delhi University panic: Ramjas, Deshbandhu get bomb threats; security tightened

New Delhi: Panic broke out at two Delhi University colleges on Wednesday after they received alarming bomb threat emails, triggering an immediate and large-scale security response. The threatening messages were sent to Ramjas College in North Campus and Deshbandhu College in South Campus, causing widespread concern among students, faculty members, and families.

Evacuation and Security Measures

As soon as the threats were reported, authorities began evacuating the institutions. Students and staff were moved to safer locations within and around the campuses as a precautionary measure. Contents of the Threat Email

According to police officials, the threats were delivered via email and contained highly disturbing claims. The message alleged that “with the collusion of Pak ISI cells provided safe haven in Coimbatore, an operation to blast two colleges in Delhi was planned for today. Please evacuate all students and staff by noon to be safe. I was part of the planning phase, but I now want to turn informer and seek witness protection.”

The explicit mention of a planned attack and the sender’s claim of inside involvement heightened the urgency of the situation. Security agencies, including Delhi Police, the Bomb Disposal Squad, and intelligence units, quickly initiated thorough anti-sabotage checks across the campuses. Officials examined classrooms, auditoriums, administrative areas, and open grounds, ensuring no suspicious items were left uninspected.
