New Delhi: Delhi is expected to experience a generally cloudy day on Sunday, with light rainfall likely at isolated places as monsoon conditions remain active across the national capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also forecast an increase in monsoon activity later this week, which could bring heavier showers and thunderstorms to the city.

On Sunday morning, Delhi recorded a temperature of 29°C, while humidity stood at 87 per cent, making the weather feel significantly warmer with a ‘feels like’ temperature of 36°C.

Light Rain and Thunderstorms Likely Through the Day

According to the IMD, the city will witness a generally cloudy sky with very light to light rainfall at isolated places during the day.

A spell of light rain is expected from the forenoon to afternoon, followed by another spell during the night. The maximum temperature is likely to remain around 34°C, while scattered thunderstorms may also occur in some parts of the city.

The rainfall is expected to provide temporary relief from the humid weather, although moisture levels are likely to remain high between rain spells.

Monsoon Activity to Intensify Later This Week

The weather department has forecast stronger monsoon activity over the coming days, increasing the possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms across Delhi during the week.

The expected showers are likely to bring down temperatures and improve overall weather conditions. However, heavy rainfall may also lead to waterlogging and traffic congestion in low-lying areas.

Residents have been advised to keep an eye on the latest weather updates before planning outdoor activities.

Delhi Recorded Slight Rise in Temperature on Saturday

Despite scattered trace rainfall in some parts of the city on Saturday, Delhi recorded a slight increase in daytime temperatures.

The Safdarjung weather station registered a maximum temperature of 35°C, which was 0.6°C above the seasonal average, while the minimum temperature settled at 27.9°C, 0.8°C above normal.

Meanwhile, the Palam weather station recorded a maximum temperature of 34°C and a minimum temperature of 25.6°C, reflecting only marginal changes compared to the previous day.

With monsoon conditions expected to remain active throughout the week, Delhi residents can look forward to more frequent spells of rain, thunderstorms, and relatively cooler temperatures in the days ahead.
