New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Malviya Nagar Assembly constituency Satish Upadhyay on Thursday slashed out to Aam Aadmi Party and said that the INDIA alliances is scattered in national capital as congress is contesting elections separately and Kejriwal campaigning with Rahul Gandhi was merely a “show-off.”
He also said that BSP is contesting elections separately, Congress is contesting separately, so we can see that the INDI alliance is already scattered. “You should ask Arvind Kejriwal as he was campaigning with Rahul Gandhi. All of that was a show-off.”
Earlier Aam Admi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal said that the Delhi assembly elections will be a direct contest between the AAP and the BJP and not an election of the INDIA alliance.
“Delhi assembly election is between AAP and the BJP. It is not the election of the INDIA alliance. I wholeheartedly express my gratitude to all those parties for supporting us. Mamata Banerjee is supporting us. Akhilesh Yadav is supporting us. I have learnt through the media that (Uddhav) Thackeray ji’s party is supporting us,” Kejriwal told reporters on Thursday.
Further, speaking on the Congress announcing new schemes ahead of the elections, the BJP leader said that these are just “announcements”.
“They just make announcements. They don’t do any work. You can see their track record in the states where they are ruling. They have only made announcements for farmers, women and youth,” he said.
Earlier, Congress announced ‘Jeevan Raksha Yojana’ in Delhi, promising to provide Rs 25 lakh health cover per family.
The announcement was made at a press conference by former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot here. Gehlot termed the scheme a “game changer” in Delhi.
The Delhi assembly polls will be held in a single phase on February 5 and the counting of votes will take place on February 8.
