Demolition drive by the administration continues in Faridabad; Over 300 illegal structures razed

The Municipal Corporation’s drive against illegal constructions and encroachments in Faridabad’s Nehru Colony is ongoing. The demolition work began late on the night of May 30, and so far, over 300 structures—both large and small—have been razed.

Late last night, some residents attempted to block the road; however, when police personnel stopped them, they pelted stones at the police. Subsequently, police teams from the concerned stations arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.

This action is being taken to facilitate the construction of the Gurugram-Faridabad-Noida Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor and a proposed elevated road. According to Municipal Commissioner Dhirendra Kumar, the operation is being carried out in compliance with NGT orders. He stated that the drive would continue until all illegal structures are completely removed.

    Over 300 Structures Demolished

More than 300 structures, ranging from small to large, have been demolished during the corporation’s operation so far. JCB machines are continuously working to clear the debris. A heavy police force has been deployed to handle any potential untoward incidents.

According to corporation officials, most residents had already removed their belongings from their homes after receiving notices. Electricity and water supplies to the area had also been disconnected beforehand to ensure the smooth conduct of the operation.
