Dense fog alert for Punjab and Chandigarh for 3 days; rain expected on 20t

Temperatures have dropped in Punjab and Chandigarh due to cold winds coming from the mountains. Nighttime temperatures have fallen by up to 0.1 degrees Celsius, although they remain above normal. The lowest temperature recorded was 4.8 degrees Celsius in Adampur. A Western Disturbance is also expected to become active from tonight.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for dense fog from December 19th to 21st. Yesterday, visibility in Faridkot and Bathinda was recorded at 20 to 40 meters due to fog. Light rain is possible in some areas on December 20th.

Dense Fog Warning in 14 Districts Today

According to the Meteorological Department, the Western Disturbance expected to reach the Himalayan region of Jammu and Kashmir from Afghanistan today is not likely to cause significant changes in the weather. However, another Western Disturbance will arrive on December 20th, which will affect the weather. Currently, the weather will remain dry today.

During this period, dense fog is expected in the districts bordering Himachal Pradesh: Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Moga, Bathinda, Barnala, Mansa, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Fazilka, Muktsar, Sangrur, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Kapurthala.

Ludhiana Records the Highest Temperature

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in the state over the past 24 hours ranged from 4.6 degrees to 11 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature of 4.8 degrees was recorded in Adampur, while the highest was 11 degrees in Ludhiana. Chandigarh’s minimum temperature dropped by 1.2 degrees and is now recorded at 8.2 degrees Celsius.

Similarly, Hoshiarpur recorded 6.6 degrees and Amritsar recorded 7.6 degrees Celsius. Daytime temperatures have also decreased by 1.2 degrees. The highest daytime temperature of 24 degrees Celsius was recorded in Bathinda.
