Dense fog alert in Punjab from tomorrow; Adampur coldest @ 3 degrees

The cold has intensified in Punjab and Chandigarh. Dense fog is expected from tomorrow. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for dense fog until the 14th. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature has increased slightly by 0.4 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours and is now close to the normal temperature.

Adampur district, bordering Himachal Pradesh, recorded the lowest temperature at 3.0 degrees Celsius, while Bathinda recorded the highest temperature at 28 degrees Celsius. Air quality has improved in Chandigarh and several districts of the state, although the AQI is still above 100 in many areas.

Minimum temperature likely to be between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius

According to the Meteorological Department, a Western Disturbance is becoming active from tomorrow. This will affect the Himalayan regions and consequently, the weather. Light to moderate fog is expected in some parts of the state in the coming days. There will be no significant change in the minimum temperature for the next two days.

In the southern districts of Punjab, including Bathinda, Mansa, Sri Muktsar Sahib (Muktsar), Fazilka, and Ferozepur, the maximum temperature is expected to be between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius. In all other parts, the temperature will be between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature will remain above normal. As for the minimum temperature, it is expected to be between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius across the state. The minimum temperature may also remain above normal.

Air quality in Mandi Gobindgarh and Chandigarh is polluted

While the AQI has improved in Punjab and Chandigarh, it is still above 100 in most districts. At 6 AM, the AQI was recorded at 130 in Amritsar, 138 in Jalandhar, 139 in Khanna, 108 in Ludhiana, 190 in Mandi Gobindgarh, and 142 in Patiala. In Chandigarh, the AQI was recorded at 163 in Sector-22, 161 in Sector-25, and 138 in Sector-53.
