Dense fog engulfs Punjab, severe cold wave alert for 2 more days

Cold wave conditions may continue for two more days in Punjab. The state is witnessing the impact of continuous dense fog. Visibility has become zero at many places due to dense fog, due to which traffic is being disrupted on a large scale. Motorists have to drive with their headlights on even during the day. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has also issued a warning of severe cold for two more days and has issued a yellow alert for fog and a cold wave.

Weather in the last 24 hours

If we talk about the last 24 hours, Bathinda recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 1.6 degrees Celsius. Although the maximum temperature has increased by 2.6 degrees Celsius, it is still 4.3 degrees below normal. In the next four days, starting from Saturday, the minimum temperature will increase by three to five degrees. There is a possibility of rain in the state from the 18th.

Rain is likely from 18th

Rain is likely from 18th to 21st January. Director of the Meteorological Department Surendra Pal Sing,h said that the weather in the state is expected to remain dry till 16th and 17th January. There may be light rain from 18th to 21st January. After this, the weather is expected to remain dry again. There will be no significant change in the minimum temperature for the next 24 hours. After this, the temperature is expected to increase by 3 to 5 degrees in the next four days.

Dense fog can cause disturbance in these areas

According to the Meteorological Department, dense to very dense fog is likely to occur in some areas of Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala. Dense fog is also likely in some parts of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Mansa, Sangrur, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar (Mohali), and Malerkotla.
