Devotees set to visit historic gurdwaras in Pakistan for Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Birth Anniversary

Amritsar: Devotees, part of a group leaving to visit historic Gurdwaras in Pakistan on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary, arrived at the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) office in Amritsar today, October 31. The devotees expressed joy and excitement upon receiving their passports.

The SGPC had previously announced that the group would depart on November 4 and return to India on November 13. Out of approximately 1,800 passports, visas have been issued to 1,794 Sangat members by the Pakistan government.

An atmosphere of joy among the devotees

An atmosphere of joy was evident among the devotees who had come to obtain passports. Surjeet Singh, a devotee from Barnala, became emotional and said, “I am going to Pakistan for the first time. I have received my visa this time, and I am very happy. I pray to Maharaj Ji that all the devotees who go have a happy journey and may everyone have the joy of seeing the Guru.”

As soon as the border opens, devotees are excited to visit the historical Gurdwaras of Pakistan.

Kulwinder Singh, in-charge of the group departing to visit historic Gurdwaras in Pakistan on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary, said that this time the Sangat is filled with immense enthusiasm and joy. He said that in the past, devotees were unable to visit Pakistan due to the border being closed during the war, but now that the border has opened, there is an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm among the Sangat.

Kulwinder Singh further stated that on November 4th, the group will depart from the SGPC office in Amritsar at 8:30 a.m. and visit several holy sites, including Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Gurdwara Dera Sahib, and Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib. He urged all pilgrims to arrive on time in the morning.

He also appealed to the congregation to ensure that all devotees remain with the group during the journey and not separate from the group for any reason. This sacred journey is being undertaken solely for the purpose of Guru Darshan and spiritual attainment, so all devotees should maintain discipline and devotion.
