Chandigarh: Under the leadership of DGP Gaurav Yadav, IPS, the Punjab Police achieved significant milestones in 2025, strengthening law enforcement, public safety, and crime control across the state.
Major Operations and Arrests
The police maintained peace and harmony throughout the year, successfully resolving all reported terror incidents. Under the Yudh Nashiyan Virudh campaign, nearly 40,000 arrests were made in connection with over 30,000 FIRs. Additionally, 416 criminal modules were busted, and 992 gangsters were taken off the streets.
Drug Control and Conviction Rates
Punjab Police recovered more than 2,000 kg of heroin in 2025. The state achieved an impressive NDPS conviction rate of 88%, the highest in India, reflecting the force’s commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking.
Crime Reduction and Public Safety Initiatives
The year saw a significant reduction in major crimes: murders dropped by 8.7%, kidnapping and abduction by 10.6%, snatching by 19.6%, and thefts by 34.3%. The Safe Punjab Helpline also crossed 10,000 FIRs, proving to be a crucial tool for citizens seeking police assistance.
Technological Advancements
The introduction of PAIS 2.0, which includes voice analysis for enhanced investigations, has strengthened crime detection and monitoring capabilities.
Cybercrime Action
In the cyber domain, Punjab Police secured Rs. 80 crore lien in cyber fraud cases out of a total of Rs. 418.29 crore, ranking fourth highest in India.
DGP Gaurav Yadav emphasized that these achievements demonstrate the force’s steadfast commitment to maintaining a safe and secure Punjab. “Our efforts in crime prevention, drug control, and technological advancements are all aimed at ensuring public safety and confidence in the police,” he said.
With these milestones, Punjab Police under DGP Yadav has showcased effective law enforcement, reduced crime, and innovative policing, making 2025 a landmark year for the state.
