DGP Punjab Chairs High-Level Meeting to Bolster Security Ahead of Independence Day

Chandigarh: In preparation for India’s upcoming Independence Day celebrations, the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab chaired a critical state-level law and order meeting at the Punjab Police Headquarters in Chandigarh.

The meeting, attended by Range Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), and Commissioners of Police (CPs), focused on reviewing ongoing anti-drug operations, assessing the law and order situation, and strengthening the internal security framework across the state.

Senior officers, including the Special DGP Law & Order, Special DGP Intelligence, Additional DGP Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Additional DGP Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), and Additional DGP Counter Intelligence, provided detailed briefings on key challenges. These included cross-border drug trafficking, Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, organized crime networks, and other pressing law and order concerns. The discussions also emphasized state-wide preparedness to ensure a safe and secure Independence Day.

Emphasis on Yudh Nashian Virudh Anti-Drug Campaign

A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to evaluating the progress of the “#YudhNashianVirudh” anti-drug campaign, launched on March 1, 2025. The DGP reviewed strategic interventions under this initiative, which has been pivotal in Punjab’s fight against drug abuse. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force’s dual strategy of aggressive enforcement and community-led prevention was highlighted as a cornerstone in creating a drug-free Punjab.

The DGP directed all field units to maintain high alert status and implement foolproof security arrangements to safeguard the public during Independence Day celebrations. The meeting underscored Punjab Police’s commitment to tackling drug-related issues and ensuring a secure environment for all citizens.
