DIG Bhullar Case: DC Office Superintendent Summoned

The Superintendent of the Mohali DC Office is expected to appear today in the case of suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar in a bribery case. In the previous hearing, the court reprimanded the DC Office and sought an explanation for the failure to preserve CCTV footage related to the arrest. The court directed that the Superintendent appear on May 6th to clarify the situation.

CBI Investigation Approved, Officers to Be Questioned Soon
The court has approved the CBI’s application for preliminary enquiry (PE), paving the way for the investigation to proceed. It is believed that notices may soon be sent to Punjab’s IAS and IPS officers and summoned for questioning.

Defense Opposed, Agency Presented New Evidence
The lawyers for the accused opposed the CBI’s application, calling it legally invalid. They argued that this was beyond their jurisdiction and could violate the rights of the accused. The CBI argued that new and crucial evidence had emerged, requiring a thorough investigation.

CFSL Report Becomes a Crucial Link
During the hearing, the CFSL report, which includes the examination of electronic evidence, was also presented to the court. It is believed that it contains crucial information regarding the authenticity of the audio conversation, which could become strong evidence in the case.

Names of Several Officers Revealed During Interrogation
According to CBI sources, the names of 14 officers (10 IPS and 4 IAS) have surfaced during Bhullar’s interrogation. Alleged links to approximately 50 officers have also been found on a middleman’s mobile phone, whose role is under investigation.
