DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar arrested in Bribery Case of Rs 8 lakh, sent to 14 days Judicial Custody

The CBI has arrested DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar of the Ropar range of Punjab Police, along with a broker, in a bribery case of Rs 8 lakh.

DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar was allegedly repeatedly demanding a bribe from a scrap dealer in Mandi Gobindgarh. On Thursday, a CBI team from Delhi and Chandigarh laid a trap and arrested Bhullar.

He has been sent for 14 Days judicial custody on Friday, while the Next hearing is scheduled to take place on October 31st, 2025.

The CBI team is searching DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar’s ​​office in Mohali and his house in Sector 40, Chandigarh, from where many important documents have been recovered. Apart from this, 22 valuable watches, 40 liters of foreign liquor, a donali, 1 pistol, 1 revolver, and 1 airgun have been recovered. Apart from this, 2 valuable vehicles, including an Audi and a Mercedes, have been recovered. Rs 21 lakh has been recovered from the broker.

Rs 5 crore cash recovered

According to information, cash worth more than Rs 5 crore has been recovered from Harcharan Singh Bhullar’s house; the counting is still going on. This cash was packed in 3 bags and 1 briefcase. After this, the CBI team had to call two note-counting machines. Apart from this, luxury cars and jewelry have also been recovered.

15 properties have also been identified. According to sources, Bhullar is currently being questioned at a secret location.

DIG Bhullar arrested from Mohali 

It is being told that Harcharan Singh Bhullar was arrested from the DIG office of Mohali. Bhullar will be produced in the Mohali CBI court tomorrow and will be taken on remand. According to CBI sources, the scrap dealer has given the names of some other officials too besides DIG Bhullar in the complaint, against whom action can be taken soon.

Let us tell you that Harcharan Singh Bhullar is a 2007 batch IPS officer. His father, Mehal Singh Bhulla,r has been the DGP of Punjab. Bhullar’s brother Kuldeep Singh Bhullar has also been a Congress MLA. Harcharan Singh Bhullar was appointed DIG of Ropar Range on 27 November 2024.
