Kolkata: West Bengal BJP leader Dilip Ghosh on Sunday reacted sharply to the resignation of Trinamool Congress leader Chandrima Bhattacharya from all party posts, saying the ruling party was witnessing a growing pattern of internal exits and questioning its organisational strength.

Speaking to reporters, Ghosh said, “There was a time in the country when returning awards had become a trend. Now, a similar trend of resignations has begun in the Trinamool Congress. It is likely to continue. The party no longer appears to have a proper organisation, so it is difficult to understand who is resigning and where they are going.”

He added that it was an internal matter for the Trinamool Congress to address.

Dilip Ghosh Questions Governance and Financial Management

Taking a further swipe, Ghosh questioned Chandrima Bhattacharya’s tenure as Finance Minister and her remarks on budget preparation.

He said it was surprising that she now claimed lack of clarity on how the state budget was prepared, adding that such statements raised questions about governance practices in West Bengal.

Allegations and Political Attack

On allegations of corruption in the state, Ghosh said investigations were underway and asserted that anyone found guilty would face action under law. He also urged that complaints be formally filed with the police if there was evidence of wrongdoing.

Chandrima Bhattacharya’s Resignation

The remarks come after Chandrima Bhattacharya resigned from all Trinamool Congress posts, marking a political development within the party ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.

In her resignation letter, she stated that she was stepping down from the post of State President of the All India Trinamool Congress and all other responsibilities.

Her resignation has triggered political debate over internal coordination within the party, with opposition leaders intensifying criticism of the Trinamool Congress leadership and organisational structure.
