New Delhi: Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has spoken openly for the first time about the Sardaarji 3 film controversy. He also raised questions about the India-Pakistan match. Diljit is currently in Malaysia on his Aura Tour. His first show took place last night (September 24).
He said, “That’s my country’s flag. We are all Indians. When my film, Sardar Ji, was released in February, everyone was playing matches. But we condemned the tragic incident in Pahalgam . We prayed then, and we pray even today, that those who attacked receive the harshest punishment. We stand with our country. But there’s a huge difference between this (India-Pakistan) match and my film.”
Diljit said, “Our film was shot first, the match later. The national media has been working hard to portray Diljit Dosanjh as being against the country. But Punjabis and Sardars can never go against the country.”
The controversy surrounding the film “Sardaarji 3” began after the Pahalgam attack. Pakistani actress Hania Aamir also starred in the film. Amidst heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, questions about the film began to surface on social media. As protests escalated, the film was decided not to be released in India and was released only abroad.
Amid the controversy, Diljit Dosanjh clarified that the film was made when the situation was normal. He said that for him, country always comes first.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) launched a protest against Diljit Dosanjh, declaring, “If he releases the film, we will ban Diljit Dosanjh, his production company White Leather House, and all the producers in India.”
Meanwhile, there were talks of Diljit Dosanjh being removed from the film Border 2, but he repeatedly posted videos on his social media to clarify that he would remain a part of the film.
