Dipika Kakar Opens Up on Cancer Scare: “I Wanted to Return Healthy for Ruhaan”

Mumbai: Television actress Dipika Kakar recalled one of the most vulnerable moments of her life, sharing how she feared a possible cancer diagnosis and prayed to return healthy for her son, Ruhaan. Speaking on Rashami Desai’s podcast Rashami Ke Dil Se Dil Tak, Dipika described breaking down when she had to hand Ruhaan to her mother, unable to feed him.

“That was the first time that I sat in the car and I had to give Ruhaan to my mother as he was crying so much. And I just broke down. At that moment, a prayer came from my heart… I just want to get better,” she said, adding that the word “cancer” itself is terrifying. She emphasized her focus on returning healthy, saying, “I just want to come back fine and be here for Ruhaan.”

Dipika also spoke about her relationship with husband Shoaib Ibrahim, explaining how their bond grew through exchanging song lines during their early days as co-stars on Sasural Simar Ka. Recalling Bigg Boss, she shared touching moments when Shoaib visited her during family week and surprised her with a poem, which she recited to other participants.

Shoaib humorously opened up about his severe flight phobia, recounting a turbulent business-class flight to Goa during heavy rains. While gripping his seatbelt in panic, he observed another couple romancing in the same shaky situation, making him laugh despite his fear.
