District Council and Panchayat Samiti elections in Amritsar on December 14; Nominations begin today

Preparations for the Panchayat elections in Punjab have intensified. The State Election Commission has officially announced the dates for the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections. Elections will be held in Amritsar on December 14th for 195 seats across 24 Zila Parishad zones and 10 Block Panchayat Samitis.

All elections will be conducted using ballot papers, and 50% of the total seats will be reserved for women. Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Dalwinderjit Singh stated that the nomination process will begin on December 1st, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm today. The last date for filing nominations is December 4th, scrutiny is December 5th, and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is December 6th at 3:00 pm.

These officials have been appointed as Returning Officers:

Zila Parishad Elections – Surinder Singh, Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Amritsar.
Nominations: Room No. 328, 3rd Floor, Municipal Corporation Office, Ranjit Avenue.
Panchayat Samiti Attari and Verka – SDM Amritsar-2 Man Kanwal Singh Chahal.
Jandiala Guru – SDM Amritsar-1 Preet Inder Singh Bains.
Majitha – RTO Khushdil Singh.
Ajnala and Ramdas – SDM Ajnala Ravinder Singh Arora.
Chogwana and Harsha Cheena – SDM Lopoke Khushpreet Singh.
Raiya – Tehsildar Robanjit Kaur, Baba Bakala Sahib.

All nominations will be accepted in the offices and designated rooms of the concerned officials.

Election Officer Says – Preparations Complete for Peaceful Voting

According to the District Election Officer, candidates can submit nominations in person or through authorized proposers. The administration has already begun preparations for police deployment, polling staff training, and material management.

All officials have been instructed to remain vigilant and maintain coordination with each other. Voting will take place on December 14th from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
