Doctors on indefinite strike in Haryana, ‘No Work No Pay’ notice issued by government

Haryana doctors have decided to go on an indefinite strike from today to press for their demands including direct recruitment of Senior Medical Officers (SMOs). Earlier, the doctors were on strike on December 8 and 9, but due to lack of talks with the government, the doctors decided to go on an indefinite strike.

Show cause notice issued to 25 doctors

Doctors in Panchkula have gone on a hunger strike outside the DG Health office. In Hisar, the Civil Hospital administration has issued show cause notices to 25 doctors on probation. However, not a single doctor has returned yet. Twenty doctors have been called from Agroha Medical College. However, the situation is getting worse with 128 doctors going on leave. Apart from Hisar, doctors from Agroha Medical College have also been sent to Sirsa and Fatehabad.

Health services in these places have been badly affected

Health services in Yamunanagar, Panipat, Fatehabad, Jind, Kaithal, Hisar, Jhajjar and Dadri in Haryana have been badly affected due to the doctors’ strike.

However, in response to the situation, the state government has invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) yesterday, which has banned the strike for six months. It has also issued a no-work-no-pay order.

How long will the strike continue, what does the association have to say?

The association’s state president Dr. Rajesh Khialia said that despite repeated appeals by the HCMSA, the state government has not entered into any talks or compromise. The HCMSA has announced an indefinite strike without any fear, saying that until their demands are met, all services, including outpatient and emergency services, will remain closed in government hospitals. They are also preparing to go on a hunger strike from Wednesday.
