Iran drone hits Kuwait airport, triggers massive fuel tank blaze

Kuwait: A fuel tank caught fire at the Gulf country Kuwait’s international airport on Wednesday in a drone attack. This attack comes amid a relentless Iranian offensive in the region.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), initial information indicates that the attack caused only limited damage and no casualties were reported.

Agency spokesman Abdullah al-Rajhi said fire brigade teams arrived at the scene and are working to control the fire.

Security agencies defused several drones

The Kuwaiti National Guard reported that its team intercepted six drones early Wednesday. The army said air defense systems were responding to enemy missile and drone attacks.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has also claimed to have shot down four drones in its eastern region.

Attacks have occurred several times before

Kuwait airport has been attacked several times since the regional war began on February 28. This war began when Israel and the US attacked Iran.

On March 14, a drone attack damaged the airport’s radar system, although there were no casualties.

On March 8, a fuel tank was attacked, while an earlier attack also damaged the passenger terminal and slightly injured some people.

Flights affected, many airlines reduced services

Due to the continued attacks and fuel shortages, several major airlines have either suspended or reduced flights to Gulf countries.
