Chandigarh/Punjab: In a significant breakthrough against organized narcotics trafficking, Punjab Police have recovered a large quantity of illegal drugs while arresting six accused persons in a crackdown on an international drug syndicate. The operation, part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign in the state, reflects law enforcement’s intensified efforts to curb drug supply networks and dismantle criminal modules operating within and beyond regional borders.

Officials said the arrests and seizure were made during coordinated intelligence-led raids conducted under the broader strategy of combating drug smuggling and distribution in the state. During the operation, law enforcement teams seized approximately 4.8 kilograms of heroin, along with a .30-bore pistol, three live cartridges, and Rs 30,000 in suspected drug money from the possession of the accused. Two vehicles believed to have been used for transporting the narcotics were also impounded as part of the evidence.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway to identify other members of the drug chain, including suppliers and distributors.

Law enforcement sources disclosed that the operation was the result of months of intelligence gathering interrogation and strategic action aimed at dismantling trans-border narcotics networks.
