Drug-Free J&K Campaign Launched in Jammu with a Padyatra

Jammu: Manoj Sinha launched the “Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir” campaign on Saturday. Thousands of people from various sections of society participated in the Padyatra from MA Stadium to Parade Ground, symbolizing solidarity against drug abuse.

100-Day Campaign, Strategy Determined
The campaign will run for 100 days and aims to raise awareness and motivate people to take responsibility. In his address, the Lieutenant Governor stated that drug addiction is a serious problem and collective efforts are necessary to eradicate it.

He stated that the campaign will be implemented in six phases: awareness programs, youth participation, community support, strict action, rehabilitation, and continuous monitoring.

Message of Strict Action Against Traffickers
The Lieutenant Governor sent a strong message to drug traffickers, stating that strict action will be taken against them. This includes confiscation of property, freezing of bank accounts, and cancellation of passports and other licenses.

He also directed to strengthen monitoring at the grassroots level by involving panchayats and local committees.

Emphasis on public participation
Manoj Sinha appealed to youth, teachers, and social organizations to play an active role in this campaign. He stated that this is not just a government initiative, but a mass movement, requiring everyone’s cooperation.

During the program, a pledge to de-addiction was administered, the campaign’s mascot was launched, and cultural presentations were also given to raise awareness.
